Non-Stop Flights to Ski Resorts From Salt Lake City

Newsroom Flight Guide To Mountain Destinations Non-Stop Flights to Ski Resorts From Salt Lake City

It’s no secret that Salt Lake City is one of the best ski destinations in the world. After all it’s home to The Greatest Snow on Earth®, as Utah averages an incredible 500 inches of snow annually. However, Utah powder days, snowstorms, and holiday weekends can bring with them road closures, backed up traffic, and long lift lines. In the time it would take to actually get on the mountain from Salt Lake City, you’d be better off flying into Aspen or Sun Valley. It’s a no-brainer to avoid the bottleneck of Cottonwood Canyons.

Whether you want to avoid traffic, or just need a change of skiing scenery, we’ve got you covered in our flight guide of non-stop flights to ski resorts from Salt Lake City.

>Get To Know Salt Lake City International Airport

Utah skiing is hailed for a number of reasons, including the convenience and access to many ski resorts from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). However, it’s also incredibly convenient to fly from SLC to other ski destinations. Salt Lake City International Airport is just a few miles from downtown Salt Lake City, and thanks to the TRAX light rail, it’s just a 10- to 20-minute ride to SLC from a number of neighborhods. This makes SLC one of the most convenient and accessible international airport in North America, especially for skiers.

More than 300 flights depart daily from SLC to 90 nonstop destinations. Salt Lake City International Airport is a hub for Delta, which accounts for about 70% of total traffic. Want to ski at Brian Head but don’t feel like driving? Skip the drive and fly on Delta to Cedar City Regional Airport. It’s an hour flight and then just 30 miles to Brian Head. Other domestic airlines that fly out of Salt Lake City International Airport include Alaska, American, Frontier, Southwest, and United.

Need to Know Information

It’s no secret that a ski trip can often take a little bit more planning and preparation. And that’s particularly the case when flying into a smaller destination or regional airport, like many of the flights listed above. As such, we recommend booking your flights as far in advance as possible. In some cases, ski destinations may only have one flight per day, with those weekend flights filling up months in advance.

Additionally, ground transportation and rideshare in ski towns may not have the accessibility and availability as major cities. One of the perks of flying in and out of Salt Lake City, however, is that there’s such great transportation options. Utah Transit Authority’s TRAX Green Line takes travelers straight to the airport, dropping passengers off on the ground level outside the terminal. Lyft and Uber both operate at SLC, while Yellow Cab is the airport’s only on-demand taxi cab provider.

Finally, no matter where you’re flying in and out of, we recommend giving yourself some extra time. Winter weather, traffic, and the time to check ski gear and get through security can all be unpredictable. For one less thing to think about, consider shipping your skis or snowboard.
